Ticket Refunds Saturday 18 July
Updated information has been released regarding the ticket refund policy for Saturday's weather interrupted day at The Open.
The R&A has received, and continues to receive, a high volume of enquiries following the conclusion of The 144th Open Championship. If you have an enquiry related to a refund in respect of tickets for Saturday 18th July 2015 more information is set out below. Refund Policy for Saturday 18th July 2015
Tickets Eligible for a Refund
As a consequence of the disruption to play on Saturday 18th July 2015 due to high winds, and in accordance with the terms and conditions related to the purchase of tickets for The Open Championship (details available at www.theopen.com), a refund of 60% will be available for any ticketholders who purchased tickets directly from The R&A (including purchases from Ticketmaster and purchases at the official pay gates) in respect of the following categories of ticket:
- Daily Adult Ticket for Saturday 18th July 2015
- Daily Youth Ticket (16 – 21 years old) for Saturday 18th July 2015
- Daily Reserved Grandstand Ticket for Saturday 18th July 2015
- Daily Greenside Club Ticket for Saturday 18th July 2015
In addition, a refund of 100% will be available to any ticketholders who purchased a Daily Car Parking ticket directly from The R&A (including purchases from Ticketmaster and purchases at the car parks).
Refund Procedure for Advanced Ticket Purchases
If you purchased a ticket in advance of the Championship on a credit or debit card, The R&A will refund the money to that credit or debit card. If you purchased a ticket in advance of the Championship by cheque or bank transfer, The R&A will issue you with a refund by cheque. In order to expedite the refund’s process, The R&A has agreed that they will refund these ticketholders automatically. These ticketholders are not required to submit an application for a refund.
Refund Procedure for Tickets Purchased at the Pay Gates
If you purchased a ticket at the pay gates (by credit card or debit card or in cash) The R&A will issue a cheque to the ticketholder in refunding these tickets. This includes Daily Car Parking tickets purchased on arrival at the car parks.
For those ticketholders who purchased tickets at the pay gates, please write to The R&A at the address below providing your full name, contact address, contact telephone number, email address and enclosing your original ticket (and Daily Car Parking ticket if applicable) as proof of purchase. Alternatively, you can contact The R&A by email on the following email address - email@example.com – attaching a scanned copy of your ticket (and Daily Car Parking ticket if applicable) as proof of purchase.
Tickets Not Eligible for a Refund
Weekly Tickets (including Weekly Car Parking, Weekly Reserved Grandstand Tickets and Weekly Greenside Club Tickets) are not eligible for a refund, in accordance with the terms and conditions of purchase.
Refunds are only available in respect of tickets for Saturday 18th July 2015.
No refunds are available in respect of tickets for Sunday 19th July 2015. A ticket for Sunday did not guarantee the ticketholder access to the final day of the Open Championship where the final day had to be rescheduled to Monday 20th July.
Tickets Purchased via Travel Operator / Hospitality Operator
If you purchased tickets for Saturday 18th July 2015 via a travel operator or hospitality operator (i.e. not directly from The R&A) the ticketholder should contact the operator from whom they purchased the ticket to discuss any potential refund.
