Ended nearly four years without a DP World Tour title when he lifted last season’s Betfred British Masters at The Belfry.

What a victory it was too. After converting a 28-foot eagle chance on the long 17th, he needed to par the difficult last to force a play-off with Sebastian Soderberg, but holed from 36 feet for birdie.

It came four years after he was part of Europe’s victorious Ryder Cup side in Paris, where he recorded a superb 5&4 singles win over Jordan Spieth.

Was only 22 when he tied for ninth in the 2012 Open at Royal Lytham & St Annes, then on his Masters debut the following April came joint sixth and climbed to a career-high 33rd on the world rankings.

Olesen’s one DP World Tour title at the time was the 2012 Sicilian Open, but he then added titles in Australia, Scotland at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, Turkey and Italy, where his closing 64 held off local hero Francisco Molinari. Also combined with Soren Kjeldsen for a better-ball 60 en route to lifting the ISPS Handa World Cup of Golf in Australia in 2016.

In February 2022, he captured the Thailand Classic by four for his seventh Tour success.
