Cink turns the clock back

17 July 2011 11:11 GMT

Stewart Cink is one of several players making short shrift of the windy weather during the early stages of the final round of the 140th Open Championship at Royal St George’s.

The American, who won The Open at Turnberry in 2009, beating the legendary Tom Watson in a play-off, is one under par for the first 11 holes of his final round and has moved up nine places into a tie for 39th.

Justin Rose is another player who has blossomed over the final 18 holes. He is also one under the card coming to the 18th but is still well down the field in a tie for 53rd place.

At mid-day there are 6 players registering at one under par for the day: Rose (through 17), Simon Khan (13), Ryan Moore (12) Cink (11),Kyle Stanley (8), Gary Woodland (6), and Sergio Garcia (2).
