Tickets have gone on sale for the 142nd Open Championship to be held from Sunday, 14 July – Sunday, 21 July 2013.
A series of early season prices are available for tickets ordered before 31 May 2013.
Ernie Els will go to Muirfield as the defending Champion after his dramatic victory at Royal Lytham & St Annes in July.
Els is also the most recent Champion at Muirfield having lifted the Claret Jug the last time The Open was played at the famous East Lothian links in 2002. The popular South African came out on top after the first ever four-man, four-hole play-off in the Championship’s history. He saw off the challenge of Thomas Levet, of France, and Australians Steve Elkington and Stuart Appleby.
Next year will be the 16th occasion on which Muirfield has held The Open Championship and its list of winners includes some of the game’s greatest figures such as Nick Faldo, Tom Watson, Lee Trevino, Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player, Henry Cotton, Walter Hagen, James Braid and Harry Vardon.
Daily tickets for the Championship days will cost £65 before 31 May and £75 thereafter. The prices for Concessions tickets (16-21 years) are £25 on Championship days before 31 May and £30 thereafter. Under 16’s will be admitted free of charge as they have been at every Open Championship since 1997.
Season tickets, which are valid from Sunday, 14 July to Sunday, 21 July, are available now for £240, a £105 saving on daily tickets for each day.
A weekly ticket for the Greenside Club, including car parking, costs £660. New daily tickets are available for 2013 which range from £215 to £265 on the Championship days.
Peter Dawson, Chief Executive of The R&A, said: “Muirfield has played host to some wonderful Open Championships over the years and boasts a list of truly great Champions. We are very much looking forward to the Championship returning there next year. Muirfield is widely regarded as one of the best tests of links golf to be found anywhere in the world and I am sure it will be hugely enjoyable for the spectators.”
Spectators who purchase tickets now can ensure they are delivered before Christmas.
