The Open Qualifying Series place at Greenbrier Classic moved to Barracuda Championship
The qualifying place for The 145th Open at Royal Troon that was on offer at the cancelled Greenbrier Classic on the PGA TOUR will move to the Barracuda Championship at Montreux Golf and Country Club in Reno, Nevada from 30 June to 3 July.
The Greenbrier Classic was scheduled to be the last stop in The Open Qualifying Series, but the event has been cancelled due to the devastating flooding caused by record rainfall in West Virginia. The PGA TOUR has advised that The Old White TPC, host course for the tournament, suffered extensive damage from the flooding and is beyond reasonable repair to conduct the tournament.
One player who finishes in the top five and ties at the Barracuda Championship, who is not already exempt for The Open, will secure a place in The Open from 14-17 July, 2016. In the event of a tie, the place will go to the player with the higher ranking in the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) for the week commencing 27 June.
A total of 44 places in The 145th Open at Royal Troon are available through The Open Qualifying Series, which gives players the opportunity to qualify at events around the world on the PGA TOUR, the European Tour, the PGA Tour of Australasia, the Asian Tour, the Japan Golf Tour and the Sunshine Tour.
