Watch: Key moments from Spieth's win at Royal Birkdale
It was an extraordinary final-round at Royal Birkdale for Champion Golfer of the Year Jordan Spieth, which featured plenty of drama and uncertainty before ultimately prevailing with his first Claret Jug.
Spieth began the day with a three-shot lead over Matt Kuchar, but that lead quickly dissipated as Speith shot a 3-over-par 37 on the front nine and headed to the 10th tee tied with Kuchar for the lead.
Things got wild on the 13th tee. After Kuchar found the right rough, Spieth blocked his drive on No. 13 way, way right. Pandemonium ensued as Spieth scrambled to figure out what to do next:
Spieth was fortunate to find his ball and after 20 minutes of figuring out what to do next, ultimately took an unplayable lie. Completely blocked by dunes, Spieth hit the following recovery, which ultimately led to salvaging a bogey.
Spieth put any doubt he may be fading down the stretch to rest on the 14th tee box, when he nearly jarred his tee shot:
Spieth followed up his birdie on the 14th hole by reaching the par-5 15th green in two shots. It soon became apparent Spieth would not be satisfied to simply lag it close to make a birdie.
After Spieth matched Kuchar's birdie at the 17th, he headed to the 18th tee with a two-shot lead. Kuchar found the bunker on his approach shot, leaving Spieth with this title-clinching putt.
