Entries closing soon for The 147th Open
The Open will be held at Carnoustie for the eighth time from 19-22 July 2018 with 156 players competing for the Claret Jug and the title of Champion Golfer of the Year.
The R&A have received a vast number of entries to golf’s oldest Championship with many players hoping to win The One this summer. It's not too late to enter but time is running out.
To determine qualifiers to Final Qualifying, separate Regional Qualifying competitions of 18 holes each will be played by stroke play on Monday 25 June 2018 at Alwoodley, Berwick-upon-Tweed (Goswick), Burnhill, County Louth, Fairhaven, Frilford Heath, Kedleston Park, Minchinhampton, Northamptonshire County, Panmure, Sandy Lodge, West Lancashire and Wildernesse.
Eligibility for entry is for any male professional golfer, a male amateur golfer whose playing handicap does not exceed 0.4 (Scratch) or a male amateur player who has been within WAGR listing 1-2000 during the period 1 January 2018 – 31 May 2018.
Separate Final Qualifying competitions of 36 holes each will be played by stroke play on Tuesday 3 July 2018 at Notts (Hollinwell), Prince’s, St Annes Old Links and The Renaissance Club.
Eligibility includes being inside the top 1000 in the OWGR and being a past winner of the four major championships. Full details available here.

Carnoustie first hosted The Open in 1931 when Tommy Armour won the Claret Jug. Since then the Angus links has witnessed great Champions including Henry Cotton, Ben Hogan, Gary Player, Tom Watson, Paul Lawrie and Padraig Harrington.
