Official Open Auction has International Appeal
The official programme from The Open of 1963 at Royal Lytham and St. Annes featuring Bob Charles on the cover has found a rightful home in Auckland, New Zealand.
Charles was the 1963 Champion Golfer of the Year and is New Zealand’s Patron of Golf.
For the first time in Open history, The R & A has released coveted and historical artefacts for reproduction- all to be offered on the Open Auction. Golf fans around the world can now own a piece of true golf history.
Dean Murphy, Chief Executive of Golf New Zealand was the first person to purchase one of the many unique items on the Official Auction. The piece will likely be proudly displayed at the home of Golf New Zealand- Remeura Golf Club.
The Open Auction TheOpen.com/auction launched just days before the start of The 147th Open and it features hundreds of unique and historical golf artefacts, match used items and autographed memorabilia. Items are added daily and golf fans around the globe are encouraged to browse the site. Net proceeds from the auction support The R&As golf development programme worldwide.
