Pupils from the boarding schools of Charterhouse and Cranleigh have been manually operating the two leaderboards at the 18th green since 1979. Assisted by real-time digital scorekeeping, the students still change the names, scores and positions by hand. More than 40 years later, posting a leaderboard update first remains a matter of pride.
