Tried again at Prince's on July 2 and took the final spot again. Is a dual Canadian-American citizen, being raised in Irving, Texas, but spending his summers growing up in Nova Scotia. Represented Canada in amateur golf and made his PGA Tour debut aged 18 in the Byron Nelson Championship.

The tournament was the one he regularly watched as a youngster – there are photos of him with Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and Sergio Garcia amongst others – and he shot 69-66 before finishing 73rd. Turned professional in 2015 and then had finishes of second and third on the Canadian circuit before surviving the cut at the European Tour qualifying school. Stands only 5ft 8in and, according to the European Tour website, weighs less than 9 1/2 stones.
