TRAVEL BY ROAD
It is anticipated that, given the high number of spectators likely to attend The Open Championship, the surrounding road network will be busy. The Police are urging all motorists to use the designated traffic routes, which will be clearly signed by the AA. Visitors and spectators are advised to turn off their satellite navigation systems and follow the appropriate signage.
Visitors travelling from the North should exit the M6 at junction 20A and join the M56 signed for Chester. Leave the M56 at junction 15 and join the M53 heading towards Birkenhead, Wirral.
Visitors travelling from the East (Manchester) should exit the M62 at junction 10 and join the M6 Southbound. Thereafter, exit the M6 at junction 20A and join the M56 signed for Chester. Leave the M56 at junction 15 and join the M53 heading towards Birkenhead, Wirral.
Visitors travelling from the South should exit the M6 at junction 20A and join the M56 signed for Chester. Leave the M56 at junction 15 and join the M53 heading towards Birkenhead, Wirral.
Visitors travelling from North Wales on the A55 should follow the signs for the M53 at junction 12 heading in the Ellesmere Port direction.
Once on the M53 please follow AA signage to the Public Park and Rides, Reserved Label car parks and Coach Parking. These three groupings will be clearly signed from the M53 onwards. Please note if you have a reserved coloured car park label then please follow the appropriate signs to the correct reserved label car park. All public who do not have a reserved colour label car park should follow signs to the Public car parks. Those ignoring the identified routes are likely to experience lengthy delays.

PUBLIC PARK AND RIDE
Designated routes will lead to Park and Ride facilities operating from all Public car parks. These facilities will reduce delays, allowing motorists to travel to and from the course on dedicated buses provided.
Spectators are strongly encouraged to use the Park and Ride facilities to minimise disruption to local traffic and ensure a swift transfer to and from The Open Championship. An outline of the Operating hours of these services is detailed below:

Please note that vehicles with a seating capacity in excess of 12 seats will be directed to park at the coach park. No camping or overnight parking will be allowed at any official Championship car parks.
Daily Coach Parking is free but will be on a first come, first served basis. Please follow signs for the Coach Park (see symbol below) which will be directed from Junction 1 of the M53.
Weekly Car Park labels are available at a cost of £60.00. Weekly labels are only available in advance from The R&A and are subject to availability.
Daily Public car parking, payable in advance or on arrival, will cost £10.00 from Sunday 13 to Tuesday 15 July and £15.00 from Wednesday 16 to Sunday 20 July. Please note that when purchasing parking at the car parks only cash is accepted.
Daily Coach Parking is free but will be on a first come, first served basis.
TRAVEL BY RAIL
Merseyrail provides a convenient and easy way to travel to The Open. Passengers travelling via Lime Street Station, Liverpool should change onto the Merseyrail Wirral Line for trains to Hoylake. Visitors are asked to disembark the train at Hoylake Station and then take a short 5 minute walk to the course.
An enhanced service will run during the Championship. The normal 15 minute train service will be increased to a 10 minute service during peak morning and afternoon sessions between Liverpool Lime Street and Hoylake.

A Helicopter Landing site, managed by Helimates (UK) Ltd, will be available at this year’s Open Championship. The Helipad is located a short drive away from The Championship and transport can be provided upon request.

TRAVEL BY SEA
There are a number of Ferry Ports in and around the Liverpool region. Various ferry providers have services to Birkenhead, Bootle and Liverpool.
TRAVEL BY BICYCLE
A Bicycle Park will be located in reserved car park Orange C where a designated area will be provided. Cyclists are encouraged to follow road signage to car park Orange C. Please note that bicycles are not allowed into The Championship and are left at the Bicycle Park at owners’ risk.
TRANSPORTATION FOR THE DISABLED
The R&A endeavours to provide a standard of accessible facilities for visitors and spectators with disability, including those using a wheelchair.
Pre-Paid ticket holders who require access to the Disabled Parking Area, are asked to call in advance The R&A Ticket Office (01334 460000) and they will be sent a Disabled Car Park pass. A designated Wheelchair friendly shuttle service will be in operation between the disabled car park and entrance to the golf course.
Disabled visitors with mobility impairments who intend to buy tickets on the day of play are advised to telephone The R&A Ticket Office (01334 460000) for further details on access and car parking arrangements.
All vehicles with either Disabled Parking Labels or a Blue Badge are asked to follow The AA signage to car park Orange B.
