A new homepage on TheOpen.com is designed to give users better access to all the key information around the Championship. The website will once again feature comprehensive coverage of the action including a live blog, detailed player and scoring information, and a wealth of statistics through ShotView powered by NTT Data.
App users following on the move can now add the leaderboard to the lock screen on their phones, while personalised videos and news updates will also be available for each player.
Each year at The Open there is a huge demand for information about the weather – and to help meet this demand a live weather widget will be made available on the app. This will provide the most-up-to-date forecasting for Royal Portrush, allowing users to keep tabs on the elements the players are going to be battling throughout the four days.
And, along with consuming the content on our website and app, fans can also have their own say through our new Golfer of The Day vote. After each round a selection of the top performers will be shortlisted before a vote, open exclusively to app users, determines the Golfer of The Day. Those who submit a vote will have the chance to win tickets to The 154th Open at Royal Birkdale.
For viewers, R&A TV will again be home to extensive live coverage throughout the week. Featured group coverage will allow fans to follow some of the biggest names, and watch every shot, while the dedicated Par-3 channel will focus on two iconic holes at Portrush - Harry Colt's, hole 6, and the famous 16th hole, Calamity Corner.
In addition, Live at the Range, in partnership with HSBC will provide an insight into how some of the world’s best players prepare for The Open.
With a wealth of content available fans can enjoy a multi-view experience and access multiple different streams at once through R&A TV, while a new Chromecast integration means the play can be streamed on the big screen.
