As well as committing to the professional game, HSBC has a longer-term goal to create a legacy through sponsorship of youth development and grassroots programmes around the world. In conjunction with The R&A, in the UK HSBC has partnered with The Golf Foundation to sponsor the HSBC Golf Roots programme. This has been nurtured to the point where it is now the largest and most successful junior golf development project in the British Isles.

The focus of the programme is to primarily target urban and inner city areas and on the “Skills for Life” such as honesty and respect that an education in golf offers. The Golf Foundation is a registered charity that aims to make it possible for all children and young people to access the sport regardless of their background or circumstances. The aim of the HSBC Golf Roots programme is to reach 1 million children per year.

The original and most prestigious championship in professional men’s golf, The Open is where the world's finest golfers set out for the honour of lifting one of sport’s most iconic trophies: The Claret Jug. Since 2012, we’ve been an Official Patron of this legendary competition and we look forward to continuing our association with legends of the sport like Tom Watson, Ian Poulter and Justin Rose.

Mercedes-Benz has been proudly associated with professional golf for over 30 years.

In 1990 Mercedes-Benz became the title sponsor of the Mercedes German Masters and has continued to support both amateur and professional golf ever since.

From 2011 Mercedes-Benz entered into a new and exciting partnership within golf, when the German luxury brand became a Patron of The Open. Mercedes-Benz is very proud to be part of the world’s most traditional Major Championship and looks forward to engaging with enthusiasts, and of course, seeing some world-class golf.

Additionally, Mercedes-Benz is currently partnered with The Masters in Augusta, Georgia and numerous other high profile tournaments such as the WGC-HSBC Champions.

In 2019, Mercedes-Benz celebrated the 30th anniversary of the MercedesTrophy – the largest amateur golfing tournament series in the world. Each year approximately 60.000 golfers from 60 countries compete for the coveted Nations Cup, with the World Final being held in Stuttgart, Germany, the birthplace of the automobile.

With the Mercedes-Benz After Work Golf Cup, Mercedes-Benz established a global 9-hole golf series which is supported by The R&A. The series enables amateur golfers to play golf competitively while fulfilling commitments such as work and family.
