Danny Willett

Sixth in The Open at St Andrews in 2015, the victory took him into the world’s top 10 and, following an earlier win at the Omega Dubai Desert Classic, helped him finish second to Rory McIlroy in the Ryder Cup points race, his debut coming at Hazeltine. The year also brought an appearance at the Olympic Games in Brazil, although it was teammate Justin Rose who won the Gold Medal for Great Britain. Some really tough times followed – by May 2018 he had slumped to 462nd on the rankings – but in November he was back to centre-stage with victory at the season-ending DP World Tour Championship.

Spent 12 weeks as the world's top-ranked amateur in 2008, a year after he was English champion and a teammate of McIlroy in the Walker Cup. Now has six Tour wins in total.
