Followed his best major finish, joint 13th at last year’s PGA Championship, with a tie for 15th at St Andrews. Is now back as a member of the world’s top 50 at the end of May after winning his third DP World Tour title at April’s ISPS Handa Invitational in Japan, where he beat Aaron Cockerill with a birdie on the second play-off hole.

His first win on the circuit came in the exact same way at the 2020 Omega Dubai Desert Classic – Christiaan Bezuidenhout was the player beaten there – and the following season he added the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open to qualify for the Open at Royal St George's two weeks later.

In October that year Herbert achieved his maiden PGA Tour success at the Butterfield Bermuda Championship.

As an amateur he represented Australia in the 2014 Eisenhower Trophy world amateur team championship, finishing joint second in the individual standings behind Jon Rahm. Two years earlier he almost won a PGA Tour of Australasia event, losing a play-off for the Heritage Classic.
