Three places in the field for The 154th Open will be available at the Investec South African Open Championship through the Open Qualifying Series.
Places will go to the three highest placed finishers who are not already exempt for the Championship at Royal Birkdale in July 2026.
The tournament, co-sanctioned by the Sunshine Tour and DP World Tour, will take place at Stellenbosch Golf Club, Cape Town and has a rich history as one of the oldest national opens in golf, having first been played in 1903.
In 2025 Dylan Naidoo won after a play-off with Laurie Canter - securing victory in his home open, picking up a maiden DP World Tour title and earning his first appearance in The Open.
He was joined in qualifying for Royal Portrush by Marco Penge and Darren Fichardt as Canter was already exempt.
Champion Golfers Gary Player, Bobby Locke, Ernie Els and Louis Oosthuizen are among those to have enjoyed victory in the South African Open down the years, with Player winning it an extraordinary 13 times.
