Waking up to the Claret Jug next to your bed is something most people could only ever dream of.
But that dream became a reality for 11-year-old Joshua Marshall this week after his The Open-themed bedroom design went viral on Twitter.
The golf-mad youngster has his parents Laura and Andy to thank for his spectacular new bedroom and when we heard about the layout we had to intervene.
And a bag of golf goodies, as well as the Claret Jug, were set up in Joshua’s room to surprise him and complete the image.
And the 11-year-old Joshua takes up the tale: “I always wanted a golf room, before it was Star Wars but I thought I was getting a bit too old for that.
“I didn’t know Mum was going to put in on Twitter until she told me, then my Dad told me she has 106 likes, 107, 108… and we were just watching it go up and up."
And on seeing the Claret Jug for the first time: “It is! No way! It’s the Claret Jug! It’s in my room!
It’s huge, it’s got all the best players on the world – I’m shocked – I have no words.”
The bedroom was the brainchild of Andy and Laura after Joshua’s memorable day at Carnoustie this summer for The 147th Open.
With leftover navy paint from the downstairs bedroom, and after enlisting the help of the graphic designer at Joshua’s school – the bedroom design came together in perfect fashion.
The centre point is The Open logo but there are framed flags from the 18th hole plastered in autographs gathered at the Angus links this summer.
On top of that he has Rory McIlroy and Justin Rose’s signed golf gloves, his ticket from the day and a ‘Quiet’ sign – all framed on the wall as well.
