One of sports most famous trophies, the Claret Jug, has been touring iconic sites in New York City ahead of The 153rd Open at Royal Portrush.

Pictured at famous NYC landmarks such as the Brooklyn Bridge, the iconic trophy also spent time at the Mercedes-Benz Manhattan dealership, NBA headquarters and the Yankee Stadium. It also paid a visit to NBC Sports headquarters in Stamford and the British Consulate General in New York for a breakfast morning.

While at the NBA headquarters on Fifth Avenue, the Claret Jug spent time alongside another legendary sporting trophy, the Larry O’Brien Trophy, which was on the line in last week's NBA Finals between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Indiana Pacers.

US fans, as well as Patrons of The Open and their customers, had the opportunity to admire the famous Claret Jug in person.

That was particularly the case at Yankee Stadium, with fans able to see the Claret Jug up close ahead of an MLB match between the New York Yankees and the Los Angeles Angels.

The Claret Jug’s American adventure concluded at a special fan-focused event with Toptracer at the Game on Golf Center in White Plains. There, fans were able to take a picture with the coveted prize that symbolises the unique history of The Open. There were also prizes on offer with a signed Tom Watson pin flag, courtesy of The Open, awarded to the winner of various challenges.

The 153rd Open will deliver more than 200 hours of coverage to US fans including extensive live main coverage across NBC, USA Network and Peacock, as well as Featured Groups, a bespoke Par 3 Channel and Golf Channel’s Live from The Open programming.
