Collin Morikawa kissing the Claret Jug

What a Championship at The 149th Open, with Collin Morikawa the winner. Explore the Nikon Image Gallery from Sunday here.

The day belonged to Collin Morikawa, the 24-year-old sensation who claimed his second major on his debut appearance at The Open. A magnificent bogey-free 66 in the final round secured the Claret Jug for the American star, and preceded wonderful celebrations and scenes on the 18th green.

Meanwhile, Matthias Schmid from Germany claimed the Silver Medal, and celebrated with Morikawa at the prize presentation.

The morning wave

Jordan Spieth, the 2017 Champion Golfer of the Year, truly marked his permanent return to form with a scintillating Sunday display that eventually finished two shots shy of Morikawa's mark. The three-time major champion however had some exciting moments, and played eight holes in the middle of his round in six under par.

Robert MacIntyre, meanwhile, had a superb weekend, and the image of him on the 16th captures his swashbuckling style on what was a wonderful day of golf at The Open.
