Fans can delve deeper into the moments that matter and the world class players producing them at The 153rd Open.
ShotView powered by NTT DATA - the most complete statistical offering in golf - will allow you to follow the action at Royal Portrush in incredible detail.
This enhanced scoring experience will be available on TheOpen.com, The Open App and for fans attending the Championship through the NTT DATA Wall on-site in the spectator village. This year, the NTT DATA Wall will feature highly produced pre-recorded video and animation content for the first time. It will also share customised ShotView content and news items tailored to specific players at key moments of play, as well as follow the leaders and the most exciting players as they progress around the course.
Player data around driving distance and accuracy, the number of birdie chances generated, the average proximity from the pin from different distances and the percentage of shots hit to certain spots are just some of the insights users will have access to. Weather on the ShotView platform will also mirror the weather on the day, and fans will get deeper insights into individual holes with "hot-spots" that show the challenges that players will face on the hole.
Statistics around strokes-gained, and the best shots played across the entire field, will also be available in addition to unparalleled detail on the challenge Portrush is posing the players.
At The 152nd Open in 2024, these insights revealed that world No1 Scottie Scheffler had the greatest strokes-gained on approach with +10.456 followed by Champion Golfer of the Year Xander Schauffele on +9.915.
Thanks to ShotView, fans also discovered that Shane Lowry hit the most greens in regulation at 70%, Bryson Dechambeau claimed the longest driving distance at 336.8 yards while Kurt Kitayama and Billy Horschel performed best across the par-5s - each finishing the week 6-under par through those holes.
These insights are possible due to detailed course mapping and surveying, more than 60 expert scorers and a range of cameras on every hole - all helping provide more than 32,000 raw shot data points collected across the four days of The Open.
Through ShotView powered by NTT DATA, insights will then be available almost immediately on The Open's website and app.
ShotView is an example of how NTT DATA has supported The R&A in transforming the digital fan experience at golf’s original Championship through the use of innovative and tailored technological solutions.
