The Ticket Ballot for The 153rd Open at Royal Portrush is open until Wednesday 31 July at 3pm BST.

After its hugely successful staging in 2019, The Open returns to Royal Portrush in 2025. With home favourite Shane Lowry emerging triumphant at The 148th Open, high demand for tickets is expected as the anticipation is building for another unforgettable Championship on the enchanting County Antrim coast in July 2025.

Ticket Ballot applications will be open to members of One Club, The R&A’s free-to-join digital membership platform, designed to bring golf fans closer to the game. Fans can also upgrade to One Club Advantage presented by Mastercard for an enhanced chance of success in the Ticket Ballot.

HOW IT WORKS

How will the Ticket Ballot work?

During the ballot application period, fans will be able to apply for up to 4 tickets per day for The 153rd Open, made up of a combination of Adult, Youth, Junior and Carer tickets. All tickets, including complimentary Junior and Carer tickets, must be applied for as part of the Ticket Ballot process and within the 4 ticket per day limit.

Fans will be able to select and amend ticket preferences as part of the application process by selecting ‘Enter Ballot’ until the closure of the Ticket Ballot at 3pm BST on 31 July.

Following submission of a Ticket Ballot application, fans will receive a confirmation email detailing their application. Please review this email to ensure the correct selections have been made. No amendments will be possible following the closure of the application period.

How can I enhance my chance?

The Ticket Ballot selection will be done randomly, although some may receive an enhanced chance of success.

In recent years, fans who selected a Monday or Tuesday Practice Day ticket as part of their ballot application had a better chance of attending The Open.

Fans can elevate their One Club experience through their Mastercard and unlock bigger and better rewards and benefits with One Club Advantage. As a One Club Advantage member, fans will receive an enhanced chance in the Ticket Ballot for Royal Portrush, as well as gaining access to monthly tee time and some unique Championship upgrades. Fans can review or upgrade their membership to One Club Advantage as part of the ballot journey.

TIMELINE

When will we find out the results?

Following the closure of the Ticket Ballot at 3pm BST on 31 July, all ballot applications will be reviewed and fans will be contacted in waves throughout August and September, with expected dates listed below:

Week commencing Monday 12 August: 1st wave of ballot winners contacted

Week commencing Monday 2 September: 2nd wave of ballot winners contacted

Week commencing Monday 16 September: 3rd wave of ballot winners contacted

By Monday 30 September All unsuccessful applicants contacted

By the end of September, all fans who entered the Ticket Ballot for The 153rd Open will have been notified by email if their ballot application has been successful or unsuccessful.

Fans who are offered tickets as part of the ballot process will not be able to pick and choose which tickets to purchase from the ticket allocation offered, all tickets offered must be purchased in full.

When will we need to make payment?

Fans will be offered tickets in waves from the middle of August until the end of September. At the time of notification, fans will be informed of the payment deadline to secure their tickets and provided with instructions on how to make payment.

Each payment window will be up to 7 days long. If the tickets have not been paid for prior to the payment deadline, the tickets will be forfeited and go back into the ballot process for fans to purchase in subsequent waves.

Fans may choose to purchase the allocation of tickets offered in full or ignore the offer and accompanying payment reminders if they no longer wish to purchase. All tickets, including complimentary Junior tickets, must be applied for as part of the Ticket Ballot process, within the limit of 4 tickets per day. No changes will be made following the closure of the application period.

What happens after I have paid for my tickets?

Following a successful payment for a ticket allocation, fans will receive a confirmation email that details their ticket purchase. All tickets for The Open are digital; digital tickets for The 153rd Open at Royal Portrush will become available for download 4-6 weeks prior to the Championship in July 2025.

Please note that tickets are non-refundable after 24hrs of purchase. Further information about the Resale Platform for 2025 will be communicated in due course.

Need information about accessibility provisions?

The Open aims to provide an enjoyable spectator experience for all individuals. Ticket holders who require the assistance of a carer are entitled to receive one free Carer ticket to the event.

Complimentary Carer tickets must be applied for during the Ticket Ballot and be included within the 4 ticket per day limit. Following a successful Ticket Ballot application, evidence will be requested via email to approve any complimentary Carer tickets. Information about eligibility requirements can be found here.
