Tiger Woods at The Open

Tiger Woods at The 150th Open

A three-time Champion Golfer of the Year, Tiger Woods has experienced many of the greatest moments of his incredible career at golf’s original Championship.

Woods made his Open debut at St Andrews as an amateur back in 1995, two years before he stunned the golfing world by winning his first Major Championship at The Masters at the age of just 21.

By the time The 129th Open came around in 2000, the American was the overwhelming favourite to win the Claret Jug having won the 1999 PGA Championship and 2000 U.S. Open.

And Woods lived up to the hype in sensational fashion around the Old Course, cantering to victory by eight strokes on 19 under, as he set a new record for the lowest score to par in a Major.

That success completed the career Grand Slam for Woods, who was victorious again, this time by five shots, when The Open returned to St Andrews five years later.

He then defended his crown at Royal Liverpool in 2006, claiming an emotional victory in the first Major since the death of his father, Earl.

While Woods has not lifted the Claret Jug since, he came close again at Carnoustie in 2018, after taking the lead with eight holes to play before narrowly missing out to Francesco Molinari.
