Alejandro De Castro Piera will make his Open debut after progressing through Final Qualifying at Burnham & Berrow, finishing T3 on eight-under-par to take one of the five spots on offer.

The Spaniard claimed one of the standout amateur titles of his career in 2024 when he won the Copa Nacional Puerta de Hierro.

The Long Beach State University student moved up eight places in the World Amateur Golf Ranking® (WAGR®) to 52nd after Final Qualifying and was one of three amateurs – the others being David Howard and Nevill Ruiter – to successfully progress on the day.

He won his first individual championship at the Wildcat Invitational in March and was also named Big West Golfer of the Year and named in multiple All-American teams.
