A Palmer Cup and Walker Cup participant in 2019, Alex Smalley has recorded two runner-up finishes on the PGA TOUR.
After finishing as the runner-up in the 2022 Corales Puntacana Championship, he repeated the trick at the 2023 John Deere Classic and reached a then career-high world ranking of 63rd as a result.
Smalley played the US Open as an amateur in 2017 and has also featured four times at the PGA Championship.
And it was at Aronimink Golf Club in 2026 where Smalley recorded his best major finish when he finished in a tie for second alongside Jon Rahm on six-under-par, three shots behind winner Aaron Rai.
His efforts in Pennsylvania, where Smalley was in either a share of the lead or in the outright lead at the end of the first three rounds, moved him from 78th to 42nd in the Official World Gold Rankings.
Smalley made his Open debut at Royal Birkdale just two months later.
Alongside Hayden Springer, Smalley finished runner up at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans on 30 under, one shot back from winners Matt and Alex Fitzpatrick.
