Was a three-time all-American selection while at Pepperdine University in California and qualified as an amateur for the 2010 US Open won by Graeme McDowell at Pebble Beach.

Turned professional a year later and joined his brother Michael on the PGA Tour in 2014, but did not play another major until last season’s PGA Championship and now makes his debut at The Open after climbing into the world top 50 on the day they earned exemptions for Royal Portrush thanks to his joint third place at the Charles Schwab Challenge in May. Won his first PGA Tour title at the Barracuda Championship a week before the final major of 2018.

Two months before that he had been runner-up to Dustin Johnson in the FedEx St Jude Classic and he made his presence felt again with a tie for fourth at October’s HSBC Champions in China – his very first World Golf Championships start - before making into the top 50 for the first time with a runner-up finish behind Matt Kuchar at this January’s Sony Open in Hawaii.
