Makes his Open Championship debut thanks to a closing 65 and tie for fourth at the Asian Tour’s World City Championship in Hong Kong in March, when four Royal Liverpool places were available as part of the Qualifying Series.

Kim finished alongside Miguel Tabuena on eight-under-par but claimed the last spot by virtue of his higher world ranking of 164th.

Had his first victory on that circuit at last season’s GS Caltex Maekyung Open and went on to be their Rookie of the Year.

It also counted as one of eight wins he has had on the Korean Tour, the first of them in 2010 helping him to become their Order of Merit champion at the age of only 20.

Topped the OneAsia Tour money list two years later and the following season tied for 45th at the US Open, his only major appearance until the 2022 PGA Championship.

Represented his country at the 2008 Eisenhower Trophy World Amateur Team Championship in Adelaide, where Rickie Fowler was the individual winner and Scotland the overall champions by nine strokes.
