Daniel Brown

Daniel Brown was the talk of Royal Troon when he began his Open debut with a bogey-free six-under-par 65 to lead the field.

This came on a day when five former Champion Golfers were among the 12 players who failed to break 80.

The Englishman, who was ranked 272nd in the world at the time, endeared himself to the crowds and stayed in contention through the weekend. He went into Sunday tied for second before a final round 74 saw him finish The 152nd Open in a share of 10th.

He won his first DP World Tour title at the 2023 ISPS Handa World Invitational and secured a second triumph at the 2025 BMW International Open.

Brown, a former holder of the English Amateur title, earned his place at Royal Birkdale after finishing in the top 25 in the DP World Tour Race to Dubai rankings.
