Qualified for his first Major Championship by winning the Visa Open de Argentina in December, coming from nine strokes behind at halfway to triumph by three.

Qualified for his first Major Championship by winning the Visa Open de Argentina in December, coming from nine strokes behind at halfway to triumph by three.

Went into the event ranked 1,027th in the world and came out of it 599th. Ten years earlier, as a 19-year-old amateur, he was in contention for the same title coming down the final stretch, but hit two balls into water on the 17th.

“This time around it worked out for me,” he said following his fourth title on the PGA Tour Latinoamerica. “All Argentine golfers dream of winning this event and I’m extremely excited for what lies ahead. Hopefully it’s a stepping stone to make it to the PGA Tour.”

Represented his country in the 2008 and 2010 Eisenhower Trophy World Amateur Team Championship – he was only 16 the first time – and was part of their winning side at the 2009 Toyota Junior World Cup.

Turned professional in 2012 and his first victory the following season made the circuit’s youngest-ever winner.

Had more success in Chile and Brazil and in 2015 was a runner-up on the Korn Ferry Tour in the United States.
