Kota Kaneko earned his place at Royal Birkdale by finishing in the top five on the International Federation Ranking List.

Kaneko triumphed in the Mitsui Sumitomo VISA Taiheiyo Masters in November – his second victory  on the Japan Tour following his success in the Kansai Open Golf Championship last May.

He has earned three top 10s on the DP World Tour so far in 2026 – in the Volvo China Open (T19), the Turkish Airlines Open (T9) and the Soudal Open (T2).
