A rising star of the game, Mason Howell qualified for The 154th Open at Royal Birkdale after winning the 2025 US Amateur Championship.

Howell defeated Jackson Herrington 7&6 in the final at The Olympic Club in San Francisco to take the title just one month after his 18th birthday. This made him the third youngest ever winner of the Championship.

Just two months earlier he was the youngest player competing in the US Open at Oakmont Country Club after earning his place with back-to-back rounds of 63 at Piedmont Driving Club in qualifying.

Howell was part of the winning US at the 50th Walker Cup at Cypress Point, winning two-and-a-half points from three matches.
