Matthew Baldwin is set for his fourth appearance at The Open after successfully progressing through Final Qualifying at Dundonald Links, earning his place at Royal Birkdale – the club where he is a member – with a T2 finish at four-under par.

The Englishman, from Southport, made his Championship debut at Royal Lytham & St Annes in 2012, where he produced his best Open finish of T23. He also competed at Royal Liverpool in 2014 and Royal Portrush in 2019.

Baldwin turned professional in 2008 and claimed his breakthrough Challenge Tour title at the 2011 Fred Olsen Challenge de España, earning promotion to the DP World Tour.

His maiden DP World Tour victory came at the 2023 SDC Championship, where he won by seven strokes in his 200th start on the circuit.

Baldwin also made the cut on his US Open debut in 2012, finishing T59, with his performances at The Open and US Open that year remaining his best results in major championships.
