The winner of The Amateur Championship in 2015, Langasque made the halfway cut in that year’s Open at St Andrews and the 2016 Masters at Augusta National, where his back-nine 31 on the final day equalled the lowest by an amateur in the tournament’s history.
It also gave him a 68 just 24 hours after he had posted an 83 in round three.
He turned professional with a plus-five handicap immediately afterwards and returned to The Open at Royal Portrush thanks to his runner-up finish in the 2018 South African Open, part of The Open Qualifying Series with three spots up for grabs.
Langasque was ranked 361st in the world at the time and it came three months after he won on the European Challenge Tour and then finished fifth at the DP World Tour Qualifying School. His maiden victory on the main circuit came at the 2020 ISPS Handa Wales Open, where a closing 65 at Celtic Manor swept him from five behind to two in front.
A month later he tied for 34th on his US Open debut and he returns to The Open now off this season’s DP World Tour money list, having finished runner-up to Adrian Meronk at May’s Italian Open.
