Was the only amateur to survive the 36-hole Final Qualifying last year and then the only amateur to make the cut at Carnoustie, thus earning him the Silver Medal.

Turned professional immediately afterwards and, ranked 1,750th in the world, came through Final Qualifying again at Fairmont St Andrews with rounds of 69 and 67 for the third and final spot on offer.

The 20-year-old is an honorary member of both Banchory and Stonehaven after his victory in the 2017 Scottish Amateur Championship, where he emulated the achievement of Colin Montgomerie 30 years earlier by winning the final 9&8. Locke is coached by father Andrew and is part of the Paul Lawrie Foundation, set up by Scotland’s last Open Champion.
