The sixth oldest golf club in Ireland, The Island was ranked tenth in Irish Golfer’s Top 100 Courses in 2024.
It will stage Regional Qualifying for The 153rd Open at Royal Portrush in July 2025.
Founded in 1890, the course is a true test of links golf and is known to be a popular spot with players looking to fine tune their game in the weeks leading up to The Open.
Its unique setting means it's bordered by the sea on three sides, and up until 1974 the only access to the course was via a small boat across the Malahide Estuary.
Please note, due to The 153rd Open being held in Northern Ireland, it is anticipated that there will be a larger than normal entry at RQ The Island this year.
Unlike all other RQ venues, there will be a waiting list for all golfers who choose RQ The Island as their first preference.
The starting field will be based on a first-come first-served policy and once we receive too may entries, the reserve list will be created.
Every golfer on the reserve list will be allocated their second choice and must play there if they do not make the starting field for RQ The Island.
