The 148th Open

The Open Water Initiative is one of the highlights at Royal Portrush, with The 148^th Open one of the first major global sporting events to remove single-use plastic water bottles.

Partnering with Bluewater, the leading global innovator in drinking water solutions, a series of water refilling stations have been deployed, along with reusable stainless steel bottles to deliver pure fresh water directly to spectators, players, staff and officials.

“As the human race continues its path and growing, we have to be concerned about what we put in the oceans and what The Open is trying to do is make people aware,” said five-time Champion Golfer Tom Watson.

“Make them aware of what we put in our oceans.”
