Tee times for the opening two rounds of The 153rd Open have been announced, with fans able to enjoy extensive coverage of four featured groups live on R&A TV.
Champion Golfer Xander Schauffele will be joined by US Open winner JJ Spaun and two-time major champion Jon Rahm in the first Featured Group of the week.
The trio will get started at 9:58am UK time on Thursday as The Open returns to Royal Portrush and the world’s best golfers begin their quest for the famous Claret Jug.
A marquee three ball of Shane Lowry, Collin Morikawa and world No1 Scottie Scheffler is sure to draw in huge crowds, and they make up the second Featured Group of the day.
Lowry will be seeking more happy memories at Royal Portrush six years on from his stunning victory in County Antrim, while Morikawa is aiming to lift the Claret Jug for a second time after a triumphant week at Royal St George’s in 2021.
They’ll get their round started at 10:09am, with fans able to follow every shot on R&A TV.
On Thursday afternoon Justin Rose, joint runner-up from The 152nd Open at Royal Troon, will join Robert MacIntyre and Bryson DeChambeau in the third Featured Group. They’ll be underway at 2.59pm.
Masters champion and home favourite Rory McIlroy will then tee off with Tommy Fleetwood – who finished second at Portrush in 2019 – and two-time major winner Justin Thomas at 3.10pm.
Padraig Harrington will be given the honour of the opening shot of the Championship at 6.35am on Thursday, playing with Tom McKibbin and Nicolai Hojgaard.
Stewart Cink will hit the opening tee shot of the second round 24 hours later. You can watch the untold story of Cink’s dramatic victory at The 138th Open in Underdogs, an original documentary from R&A Films, now available on R&A TV.
Ethan Fang, winner of The 130th Amateur Championship at Royal St George’s last month, has been paired with the vastly experienced duo of Adam Scott and Rickie Fowler, teeing off at 12:09pm on the opening day.
