Harris English, Haotong Li, Jacob Skov Olesen, Matt Fitzpatrick and Christiaan Bezuidenhout hold the lead after day one of The 153rd Open at Royal Portrush.

English, who has three top-four finishes in majors including a joint runner-up finish at this year's PGA Championship, briefly moved clear at five-under when he followed a front-nine 33 with birdies at 11 and 12.

However, a bogey on the 14th followed, ensuring the American dropped back alongside Li, Olesen, Fitzpatrick and Bezuidenhout, who also carded scores of 67 on Thursday.

Scottie Scheffler is among a clutch of players at three-under. The world number one birdied the 16th and 17th to move ominously up the leaderboard late in his round.

Also on three-under are Matthew Jordan, Sadom Kaewkanjana and Tyrrell Hatton.
