Cameron John’s runner-up finish at the Singapore Open presented by The Business Times was enough to claim a qualifying spot for The 154th Open.

He finished two shots behind eventual winner Jeongwoo Ham at the Asian Tour event, where there were two Royal Birkdale places on offer as part of the Open Qualifying Series (OQS).

The Australian will now make his Open debut when golf’s original championship returns to Southport this summer.

John arrived in Singapore having been performing strongly on the PGA Tour of Australasia – recording wins at the Queensland PGA Championship in November, the Vic Open in January and The National Tournament in March.
