Taylor Pendrith's Open debut comes at the age of 34 after he has twice been selected as a wild card for the International side at the Presidents Cup.

September’s match was on home soil for the Ontario-born player, who after progressing through the Canadian circuit and Korn Ferry Tour captured his first PGA Tour title at last season’s CJ Cup Byron Nelson.

In what was his 74th start he had rounds of 64, 67, 63 and 67 to beat Ben Kohles by one when he birdied the final hole and Kohles bogeyed it.

His maiden appearance in a major came at the 2020 US Open, where he finished tied for 23rd, and he became exempt for Royal Portrush by making it through to the 30-man Tour Championship last season.

In 2014 he competed alongside Corey Conners and Adam Svensson at the Eisenhower Trophy world amateur team championship in Japan, Canada finishing as runners-up only two strokes behind the American trio of Bryson DeChambeau, Denny McCarthy and Beau Hossler, while Jon Rahm was the individual champion.
