Younghan Song makes his third appearance at The Open this summer thanks to a tie for second place at the Mizuno Open, part of the Open Qualifying Series.
His first Open came in 2017 at Royal Birkdale and then he returned last July at Royal Troon.
A closing one under par 71 at the Mizuno Open lifted the South Korean from joint seventh and alongside Riki Kawamoto, four strokes behind winner Mikiya Akutsu.
He has won twice on the circuit, his first in 2016 grabbing headlines around the world as he beat then world No 1 Jordan Spieth by one in the SMBC Singapore Open just a few months after the American had captured both The Masters and US Open.
The event stretched into a fifth day because of a thunderstorm, Spieth resuming with a birdie on the last, but overnight leader Song holding his nerve with three closing pars, the first of them thanks to a 12-foot putt he revealed he had been practising for hours in his hotel room before returning to the course.
A tie for second at the same tournament a year later took him to a career-high 69th in the world. He made his LIV Golf debut as a temporary member in April.
