Tom McKibbin set a course record en route to winning the Link Hong Kong Open by seven shots, guaranteeing his place at Royal Birkdale next summer.
The 22-year-old will return for his third consecutive appearance at golf’s original championship, having made his debut at Royal Troon in 2024.
His week in Fanling started with an opening round of 60 – a new record at Hong Kong Golf Club - and his excellent form continued with back-to-back rounds of 65 to ensure he’d enter the final round top of the leaderboard.
A sparking Sunday 63 which included eight birdies then moved McKibbin clear of the chasing pack and he ended the week on 27-under par, seven shots ahead of closest challenger Peter Uihlein.
One qualifying place for The 154th Open was available at the Asian Tour event as part of The Open Qualifying Series (OQS).
This was the first time OQS had returned to Hong Kong since 2023 when Taichi Kho, Michael Hendry, Travis Smyth and Bio Kim qualified for The 151st Open at Royal Liverpool through the World City Championship.
