Mizuno Open

Mikiya Akutsu, Younghan Song and Riki Kawamoto have qualified for The 153rd Open at Royal Portrush via the Mizuno Open.

Akutsu triumphed in the latest event on the Open Qualifying Series with a winning tally of 13-under-par, four strokes clear of Song and Kawamoto.

It represented a first victory on the Japan Golf Tour for the 30-year-old – and it brings with it a maiden appearance in golf’s original championship.

Of the three qualifiers, only Song has previously appeared in The Open, first at Royal Birkdale in 2017 – where he finished in a tie for 62nd place – and then at Royal Troon last year.

One more Open slot will be filled after the completion of the Memorial Tournament presented by Workday in Ohio on Sunday.
