Accommodation and staying near Royal Portrush

Portrush Claret Jug

Royal Portrush Golf Club is hosting The 148th Open and the first major golf competition on Northern Irish shores since 1951.

From Sunday July 14 to Sunday July 21 the North Antrim town of Portrush will be awash with golf fans and it will pay dividends to be in the know when it comes to accommodation.

The most convenient way of enjoying all the action for this historic week of golf might be to make use of The Open’s camping facilities.

Here is everything you need to know about staying in Portrush.

Camping

The Open Camping Village offers fantastic facilities including pre-erected tents and a campers’ clubhouse that provides evening entertainment including drinks, music and a comfortable space to unwind in after an exciting day on the course.

Hosted by Ulster University's Coleraine campus during its 50th anniversary year it is a 15-minute bus ride to Royal Portrush and the bus stop is just a 5-minute walk from the main entrance.

There is a dedicated family area in a quieter part of the campsite and for those who want to stay active over the week there are football pitches and other games available to use.

Youth Ticket holders (16-24 years old) are eligible for a free pitch at The Open Camping Village while adult tickets start at £40 per night, more information can be found here: https://www.stayattheopen.com/camping
