The Open Qualifying Series Japan

The Japan Open Golf Championship is the second event on the Open Qualifying Series for 2026.

It will take place at Nikko Country Club in Tochigi between 16-19 October 2025 and offers one place – to the leading player not already exempt – into The 154th Open, at Royal Birkdale.

Shugo Imahira [below, left] won the Japan Open when it was staged in Tokyo in 2024.

Japanese golfers have dominated the winner’s circle – including Hideki Matsuyama in 2016 – since the tournament began in 1927, although three-time Champion Golfer Seve Ballesteros picked up back-to-back successes in 1977 and 1978.
