Japan Open Golf Championship

Yusaku Hosono has booked his place at The 155th Open next year courtesy of a two-stroke victory in The Japan Open Golf Championship.

Hosano recorded rounds of 65, 64, 68 and 70 at Tarao Country Club to pip Yusuke Sakamoto to the title and seal a spot at St Andrews in 2027.

The Japan Open Golf Championship was the third event on this season’s Open Qualifying Series, following the FedEx Open de France in September and the Open de España earlier this month.

Hosono became the latest Japanese winner of an event that has been dominated by his countrymen, including Hideki Matsuyama in 2016, although three-time Champion Golfer Seve Ballesteros picked up back-to-back successes in 1977 and 1978.
