Born in Canada, but is an American citizen. In 2007 when still an amateur came through two stages of qualifying to play the US Open, but Open debut did not come until last July after he finished joint third in A Military Tribute at The Greenbrier, part of The Open Qualifying Series with four spots up for grabs.

He came through the 2011 Nationwide Tour to earn a PGA Tour card and in his rookie season was runner-up to Jonas Blixt in the Frys.com Open. In 2013 he scored a hole-in-one on the 409-yard par four fifth hole at the McGladrey Classic pro-am. Three times a runner-up on the PGA Tour, all by a single stroke. First pipped by Jonas Blixt at the 2012 Frys.com Open, then by Bubba Watson in the 2016 Northern Trust Open and then this March by Paul Casey at the Valspar Championship.

Twice a winner on the Web.com Tour in 2011, each of them containing a round of 63. Yet to break into the world’s top 50, but 14 places at Royal Portrush were allocated off the rankings on June 24 and at 70th he took the seventh of those.
