Hospitality for The 149th Open now on general sale

Visitors to The 149th Open at Royal St. George’s in 2020 will gain new insights into golf’s most prestigious Championship thanks to the launch of its newly rebranded hospitality experiences which focuses on its fascinating history.

Entitled Origins at The Open, the rebrand celebrates the craftsmen and experts who have helped create and continue to shape this iconic golf Major. The new Hospitality packages officially launched on 10 June for Royal St George’s in 2020.

The new experiences will showcase the skills of Champions, Engravers, Caddies, Clubmakers, Greenkeepers and Scorers. Their roles are central to the heritage and rich tradition of the Championship but their stories have often gone untold.

The R&A have worked alongside Creative agency TwelfthMan on Origins at The Open. By delving deep into The Open’s extraordinary history, it’s hoped fans will be able to feel even closer to the golf.

“We felt that the rebrand was a vital piece of work to enable us to deliver a world-class experience for our guests. The Open is hosted by some of the most iconic and historic Links courses in the UK so it is important that we have continuity and consistency across a mix of exclusive experiences that represent the Championship’s rich heritage” added Brett Tonkyn, Head of Hospitality for The Open.

“The new experiences and fresh identities for the various levels of hospitality help us to tell a story.  It also allows our loyal customers to book hospitality at The Open year on year, wherever the venue, and have a sense of anticipation for an experience that they know will exceed expectations. Origins will help us to showcase this story throughout the whole customer journey.” Brett tonkyn, head of hospitality at the r&a

“This was a great opportunity to think about The Open hospitality differently,” said TwelfthMan’s creative director Mark Pidgeon. “Whilst there are incredible stories of The Open, relating to big moments and the past Champions, we were looking to engage fans by taking a fresh view of the Championship.

“As we unearthed unexpected, entertaining and often moving stories from the past, we certainly felt a deeper connection to The Open. We hope to retell these stories with the respect they deserve and bring them to life at the Championship in 2020.”

The packages are now on general sale at early bird prices, you can find out more here or get in touch with a member of our Hospitality team about all of the available experiences at Royal St. George's 2020.
