Charley Hoffman

Led the 2017 Masters with his opening 65 and then had his best-ever finish in a major by coming eighth at the US Open.

Led the 2017 Masters with his opening 65 and then had his best-ever finish in a major by coming eighth at the US Open. In the two weeks which followed The Open at Royal Birkdale he lost a play-off to Jhonattan Vegas at the Canadian Open and was third at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational, all of which helped him to become one of Steve Stricker’s two wild cards for the Presidents Cup.

He is a four-time winner on the PGA Tour, his victories coming in the 2007 Bob Hope Chrysler Classic, 2010 Deutsche Bank Championship with a closing 62, the 2014 OHL Classic at Mayakoba and 2016 Valero Texas Open, the same event in which he was runner-up to Corey Conners this April.

Was known for long blond locks for much of his career, but then decided "it wasn't that great a look any more". Qualified for Carnoustie last year off the “current form” FedEx Cup points list, while this year he had to wait until the last week of June to have his place at Royal Portrush confirmed off the world rankings, where he had slipped outside the top 75 from a high of 20th two years ago.
