Played at Muirfield in 2013 as The Amateur champion, also appearing in the following year's Masters at Augusta National before turning professional with a plus five handicap.

This is his first time back in the championship since then thanks to a 10 under par performance in the 36-hole Final Qualifying competition at St Annes Old on July 2, which earned him top spot alongside Jack Senior as 72 players did battle for three places at Royal Portrush.

Studied at the University of Tennessee and represented Britain and Ireland in the 2013 Walker Cup on New York's Long Island, winning his opening foursomes with Rhys Pugh, but losing his other three games as America triumphed 17-9.

Also played for England in the Eisenhower Trophy world amateur team championship and has since enjoyed two steady seasons on the European Challenge Tour, his best finishes being first at the 2017 Prague Challenge and second at the 2016 Red Sea Egyptian Challenge. Known for his art abilities off the course.
